COUNSELING POLICY & LIABILITY RELEASE (MINORS)

Counseling Policy

METHODS Information about our methods and techniques of counseling is available to those who request it. Our counseling is Christian in nature, based upon the Bible. Counselees are encouraged to raise any questions they may have. Length of counseling may extend up to, but not surpass, eight (8) weekly sessions, unless the counselor deems it necessary to go beyond that number. Counselees are free to end counseling at any time before that if so desired. We do request a final session in person. CONFIDENTIALITY STATEMENT The communications between your child and the counselor will be considered confidential except where disclosure is required by law, i.e., where there is a threat of serious harm to self or others, as in the case of child abuse, elderly abuse, suicide, threatened violence, or homicide. In such instances, your communications may be disclosed to appropriate state law enforcement authorities. MISSED APPOINTMENTS A counselee who is unable to keep an appointment is asked to call Pearls Christian Counseling office 24 hours before scheduled appointment time to cancel. Failure to do so may result in termination of counseling. The counselors freely volunteer their time to this ministry and extensive travel is often required. We appreciate your cooperation in this matter. MEDIA POLICY Books and audio or other media materials related to your child’s counseling are available for purchase or loan. Should you choose to borrow, the following policy will be applied. “I agree that, in order to avoid the delay of my child’s counseling, I will return my child’s borrowed counseling materials by the deadline, or I will pay for the counseling materials my child borrows but does not return by the deadline.”
